Thrift Store Challenge | Thinking outside the box for your boudoir session

Tānk As much as I love beautiful luxury lingerie, it’s not the only wardrobe that works for boudoir. To prove that you don’t need to spend a ton of money on expensive lingerie I set out with a max budget of $20.00. I challenged myself to find three different boudoir looks at a local thrift store. Three looks provides plenty of variety to fill a full session.

The first look was a beautiful sequin dress. The dress (or anything that covers more) is a perfect first outfit if you are a little nervous about showing more. This really provides a great starting point in getting comfortable and warming up for the rest of your session. It can also be used to create a more “glamour” look, think Monroe or Hepburn, beautiful and timeless.

I was very excited to find a super cute crop top and jean cut off shorts for my second outfit. This is by far one of the most versatile outfits. For a few dollars extra you can add fishnets under the shorts or even swap the tee for a bra. The possibilities are endless with this one. This simple outfit brings some uber sexy shots everytime!

And lastly, the most affordable “wardrobe” was the white sheet. Talk about simple, seductive, and classic! The white sheet can be used to creatively cover any areas of your body you don’t want exposed. It also does a great job at showing off and flattering your favorite curves. From playful shots to mysterious shots the white sheet really does it all.

Make sure to take time to squat down and stretch while trying on your finds. You do a lot of moving around in a session. So, it’s important to make sure that you are comfortable in what you are wearing. Posing is everything! If you love the outfit but aren’t 100% sold when you look in the mirror don’t get discouraged. A few simple adjustments to your positioning will make a world of difference and I know all the tricks.

All in all, I was really excited about the treasures I found at the thrift store. It just goes to show you that if expensive lingerie isn’t your thing, there are plenty of options out there. It may take some hunting and a little creativity, but you can find boudoir outfits in the most unexpected places. And don’t forget, our client wardrobe is filled with a variety of styles and sizes too!
